Delta Air Lines will launch a new nonstop flight between Catania and New York-JFK this summer. The award-winning U.S. airline will operate the nonstop service between the two cities on a daily basis, starting May 22, 2025. The new flight will also offer customers the option to continue their journey with connecting flights via Delta’s New York-JFK hub to destinations across North America.
“Delta will see the fastest international growth in 2025 of any transatlantic market we serve, ” said Matteo Curcio, Delta’s Senior Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India. “We are thrilled to be arriving in Sicily and becoming the first U.S. airline to connect Catania to the United States, offering even more destinations across the U.S., while supporting the local economy and providing more opportunities for American travelers to visit Italy.”
“The new Catania-New York route represents a fundamental step for the development of our airport and for the whole of Sicily. The direct connection with one of the main global metropolises will have a positive impact on the local economy, attracting visitors from all over the world interested in discovering the beauty of our island, but at the same time allowing American tourists, many of Sicilian origin, to rediscover their roots. Furthermore, we will simultaneously offer a hub for companies aiming at the US market and for American companies interested in investing in Italy. This operation therefore confirms the Catania airport as a point of reference in the aviation sector, capable of adapting to a constantly evolving market and supporting the growth of Sicily”, declared Nico Torrisi, CEO of SAC. “The collaboration with Delta Air Lines, with whom we have started a solid and constructive collaboration, will pave the way for new synergies between the two continents. Our goal remains to guarantee a high-quality travel experience for all passengers, while promoting Sicily as an international destination for workers and students, and offering new opportunities to young people. We are excited to see this flight as a symbol of connection and growth for our region."
